This is a documentation playspace for OpenCATS documentation, at least until I can get it into the right repository in an orderly fashion!

This domain is for sharing artifacts and ideas about OpenCATS documentation.

Drafts and artifacts

The latest known build of the documentation: opencats_userguide.pdf

Features of this version of the document:

• Fully developed outline, needs comments/feedback. See the table of contents.
• Built from DocBook XML source, with graphics in graphviz/dot.


• Life cycle discussion adapted from mabdalla's 2008 forum post.


• Complete framework and build apparatus. (Built from checked-in XML source using make/dot/xsltproc/fop.)


• Tuned the layout and typography (everything was defaulted)

So what are the next steps? Well, apart from working with any feedback or contributions from folks, I have this planned next

• Adapt material from the "CATS in 5 minutes" quick guide


• Tune the front cover look; add timestamp, legal, copyright, etc.


• Add "how you can help" section pointing back to e.g. a forum topic for suggestions.

Then beyond that, I could sure use some technical partners to help generate content... Please PM me at the forum if you can help!
